I submitted the project plan on July 27th, 2007 to the Belchertown Conservation Comm.
The hearing was held on August 14th.
- I presented plan, map and copy of Mass Guide to Lake Mgmt chapter on Benthic Barriers
- A neighbor submitted an objection in writing (see below) based on a claim of ownership of Lake Holland. They were also contesting the "Great Pond" status of Lake Holland, which was the basis of the ownership claim. Great Ponds are owned by the state of Massachusetts.
- A decision was postponed to consider the objection.
The next meeting was on Sept 10th.
- I brought an updated map and items from the Mass DCR Weed Watcher Program.
- There was discussion about the details and implemention of the plan
- The ownership claim was considered briefly and set aside.
- The neighbors that had made the ownership claim made the request that they be explicity absolved of any liability, in writing. I agreed to that.
- The permit was granted.
A week after the meeting I got a trespass warning, see below.
I received the permit with conditions on October 3rd. This was on schedule, as expected.
Oct 4th, received copy of Mass DEP letter affirming "Great Pond" status of Lake Holland.
NOTE that I include scanned copies of the documents mentioned on this page for complete documentation of this project, but personal information is not necessary for that purpose and has been blotted out.
